New York, October 18, 2018: This week, the executive board of directors of the international congress of media appointed Mrs. Nayeema Khan, Khan’s Tutorial Chairperson as a Good Will Ambassador to promote the UN 2030 Agenda for Quality Education. As a Good Will Ambassador, Mrs. Khan will be supporting the United Nations’ sustainable development goals and highlight important areas of the United Nations’ work around empowering communities through education. For over 25 years, Mrs. Nayeema Khan has led Khan’s Tutorial, a tutoring and mentorship academy with 11 locations serving New York City’s outer boroughs. In her role, she oversees a staff of 400 leaders and Instructors, and serves over 3,500 families weekly, for their supplemental education needs.

Mrs. Khan’s appointment was a part of a media meeting, round table discussion, and reception at the United Nations Headquarters. Other notable attendees of the high level meeting include New Jersey Senator Robert Bob Melendez, New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat, and New York Supreme Court Judge Dr. Carmen Velasquez

“I am extremely grateful to find out that my mother, Mrs. Nayeema Khan, has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for Education by the United Nations and its affiliate organizations. When our family started out in New York City almost 30 years ago we knew how much work was left to both educate our own family, our overall community, and eventually the rest of New York City. I am grateful to God, our friends and supporters in the Bangladeshi & South Asian community, and our entire team of Instructors, Managers, Directors and Leaders at Khan’s Tutorial. This tremendous honor for my mother comes with great responsibility and I fully intend to support her to my fullest abilities in her new role as Goodwill Ambassador for Education,” said Dr. Ivan Khan, President and CEO of Khan’s Tutorial.

With 11 locations in the outer boroughs of New York City, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and in the Jackson Heights, Jamaica, Astoria, Sunnyside, Ozone Park, and Floral Park neighborhoods of Queens, Khan’s Tutorial primarily serves in assisting families in low-income, new immigrant neighborhoods. Over 2,972 students have gained admission to New York City’s Specialized High Schools through Khan’s Tutorial since its inception in 1994. -Press Relies.
