3 dead, 4 injured in Bangladeshi house fire in Jamaica, New York

New York: Three people were killed and four others were injured in a terrible fire in a house in Jamaica Estates, Queens, New York City on Saturday (April 19) night. Among the injured is a fire department employee. The owner of the house is Misbah Mahmud. He himself was seriously injured in the incident. He is undergoing treatment at Jacobi Hospital Center in the Bronx. According to the latest news, the injured Misbah Mahmud is in the ICU of the hospital.
According to various sources, people from another community were living as tenants in the house of Bangladeshi-American Misbah Mahmud. There are various stories and mixed reactions in the community about this incident. The injured Misbah Mahmud is a board member of the Bangladeshi-American Advocacy Group (BAG). Community leaders have prayed for his recovery.
Police said the fire broke out at 1:40 a.m. early on Easter Sunday. Firefighters responded to a 911 call about the fire at 87-25 Chevy Chase Street and brought the fire under control. The three men who died were 45, 52 and 67 years old. Their names have not been released. Three of the injured were taken to Jamaica Hospital Center and one to Queens Hospital Center. The cause of the fire is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
