Full Job Description
Position Description: The religious education director/ program coordinator organizes and manages various religious education programs offered by the mosque for children, youth and families of the neighboring Muslim community and oversees the development and maintenance of structures of support that facilitate these programs General Expectations:
Attending at meetings of staff members Continued growth by participating in appropriate training provided by the Masjid administration.
Maintaining open lines of communication with the Imam and other members of Masjid committee regarding any items of concern or interest; Professionalism and discretion. Duties and Responsibilities: Promotion, coordination, and development of the After-school religious education programs for children at the elementary, middle and high school levels in collaboration with the Imam and Masjid administration. Promotion of the After-school religious education program to families in the Mosque and the general community; Selection of appropriate materials and supplies for each grade level;
Support, training and evaluation of enrolled children in the program Organization of calendar and spaces for religious education in the Mosque; Participating in community meetings as a representative for religious education. Recruitment and preparation of young adults and parents in the community to participate in the religious education and assigning them roles in Masjid’s ongoing religious activities and to ensure that they are able to do their roles well; Engaging muslim families to participate in regular and occasional educational activities such as weekly Arabic, Quran, Hadith & Fiqh classes, variety of lectures and seminars by guest speakers, Dawa workshops, annual conventions as well as encouraging them to join congregational Friday,Tarawih, Eid and other prayers. Development and Running of summer Islamic school : Selection of appropriate Islamic courses and study materials based on age groups Promotion of the program in the muslim community Recruitment of volunteers; Enrollment of participants; Running of the program. Maintenance of religious education program records; Other duties as appropriate to the position. Working Conditions: Carrying and moving of equipment and materials; Computer work; Phone calls and e-mail correspondence; Frequent evening and weekend Qualifications: Practicing Sunni Muslim actively involved in mosque/community religious activities
Bilingual ( English & Bangla) preferred High school diploma or GED,
Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in religious studies preferred.
Related education and experience to perform basic religious education responsibilities required Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and technology skills with a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Motivated, self-starter, able to multitask and manage multiple priorities Able to work independently and in a multicultural environment Able to honor and maintain confidentiality Able to work and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, families, and children
