Pompeo said the U.S. wants North Korea to take "credible steps" toward giving up its nuclear weapons program, a sign the Trump administration is backing away from demands that Kim Jong Un complete denuclearization before sanctions against his country are eased. Washington, DC, 05 November: Today, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) released the following statement on the passage of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill:

“I am pleased that President Biden’s transformative investment in physical infrastructure has passed the House chamber. The $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill is the largest long-term investment in our infrastructure and competitiveness in nearly a century. Our inaction to invest in infrastructure has disproportionally fell on communities of color as they are less likely to have access to high-speed internet, clean drinking water, and reliable public transit. This historic legislation addresses economic disparities in our economy and fixes decades of disinvestment in infrastructure.

“New Yorkers heavily rely on public transit, roads and bridges in their daily commute. With the largest federal investment in public transit in history, this bill includes $48.5 billion towards public transit in addition to $110 billion for roads, bridges and major products.

“In the last decade alone, New York has endured 31 severe weather events, including Hurricane Ida in September. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill provides $47 billion toward resiliency efforts, enhancing New York’s infrastructure so we can withstand future storms. The legislation also includes investments to deliver clean drinking water, connect every American to reliable high-speed internet, and upgrade our power infrastructure.

“It is clear that New Yorkers and the majority of Americans fully support this bill. Since this has already passed in the Senate, I look forward to President Biden signing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill into law as soon as possible. I also look forward to passing the Democratic Reconciliation Bill – the Build Back Better Act – because the need to invest in human infrastructure is just as critical as investing in our physical infrastructure,” said Congressman Meeks.
