BD CG Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa meets Mr. Tom Nagorski
New York: Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa, Consul General of Bangladesh in New York called on Executive Vice President of Asia Society Mr. Tom Nagorski on 19 September 2018 at the latter’s office in New York. Asia Society, founded by John D. Rockefeller 3rd in 1956, is a non-partisan, non- profit educational organization in the US with offices in major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia.
Mr. Tom Nagorski warmly welcomed and congratulated Ms. Faizunnesa for assuming the post of Consul General of Bangladesh in New York. Consul General Ms. Faizunnesa briefed Executive Vice President Mr. Tom Nagorski about the recent socio-economic development of Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Consul General appreciated various programmes and initiatives by the Asia Society dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders, and institutions of Asia and the United States in a global context across the fields of arts, business, culture, education, and policy. She briefed Mr Nagorski about the history of ’21 February’ which was recognized by UNESCO as international Mother Language Day in 1999. She also briefed him about the ‘Mongal Shova Jatra’, the traditional march arranged on the first day of Bengali New Year. She offered that Asia Society and the Consulate General of Bangladesh may work together to organize cultural programme, seminar etc. Ms. Sadia Faizunnessa presented the book “Unfinished Memoirs of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” to Asia society.
